A shadowy, human-shaped figure was spotted in a rear view mirror by the occupant of a car. The figure disappeared, blending' into the shadows of a fence.

This shadow of a shambling headless person reportedly stalks the churchyard here.

Monk

Ayot St Lawrence - Brocket Arms public house

Date / Time: Unknown

Thought to have hanged himself in the fourteenth century, the monk has made several appearances to staff and visitors.

Cyclist

Bushey - King George Recreation Ground

Date / Time: 1997

Further Comments: A phantom cyclist is said to haunt this Green Flag Award winning parkland. The ghost was seen in 1997 as it accelerated up a frosty hill before vanishing.

Grey Lady

Bishop's Stortford - Boar's Head public house, Water Lane and St Michael's Church

Date / Time: 1922

Further Comments: Locals say that this shade travels through the town, stopping at a couple of watering holes, before continuing on to the church. The phantom drifted silently passed a mother and child along Water Lane in 1922, heading towards the church. Both witnesses fled.

Make Up Artist

Location: Borehamwood - Gate Studio

Date / Time: 2000s

This figure committed suicide at the studio, and has subsequently been observed around the cinema screen. A builder who fell to his death on the site has also been reported. It is unclear which ghost was seen dressed in 1920s clothing by two female witnesses.

Clibbon

Datchworth - Area around the station

Found guilty of highway robbery, Clibbon was tied to the back of a horse and dragged around the town until he was dead. His screams are sometimes heard. The same area is also home to a headless horse, though it may not be the same creature associated with the highwayman.

Further Comments: A number of 'strange' reports have come out of the BB house, including a 'phantom' monkey seen on the ceiling, a moving plate, and a ghost seen by Imogen, which may have been another housemate…

Monk

Hannah and Hugh

Bell House

Date / Time: 1940s

Further Comments: A number of unhappy spirits haunted this house (according to the results of a 1940s séance); Hugh was thought to be the ghostly man in black spotted on the staircase, while Hannah killed her child in the house and remained there in the afterlife to grieve. While other spirits were unwilling to speak during the séance, they marked their presence in the building by banging, scraping, and attempting to strangle a tenant in his sleep.

Further Comments: Dressed in old fashioned clothing and hair style, this woman was spotted by a couple of witnesses as they drove past in their car. The figure stood motionless staring into the water.

Soldiers

Further Comments: A group of three soldiers were seen sitting around a table playing cards in one of the properties reported to be the site of a First World War training camp. Another phantom man in uniform was observed passing through a bathroom wall

Icy to the Touch

Hatfield - Station

Date / Time: 1900s

Further Comments: The driver of a steam train passing through Hatfield Station reported a phantom man who stepped from the platform into the engine (even though the vehicle was travelling at 55 mph). The icy, dark-clothed entity forced the driver to stop the train, which ground to a halt at Hitchin station; the driver then noticed that the track ahead was blocked, and that the steam engine would have crashed into the obstruction if it was not for the ghost.

Banging

Hertford - Hairdressers (name withheld)

Loud bangs and footsteps were reported coming from empty places within this hairdressers. A visiting psychic said that she could feel a presence upstairs.

Cross Keys public house

Date / Time: 1960s, 2011

Monks were once based on this site prior to the construction of the pub, and were reported to have been seen during the 1960s. The paranormal investigation team Paraception UK were called in 2011 after the landlady reported hearing loud bangs, and the team reported feeling pressure being applied to their throats during the night.

Man in Long Coat

Chorleywood - Chorleywood Common

Date / Time: 01 January (2015?), between 00:30h - 01:00h

Two witnesses watched a shadowy figure in a long coat walking across the common in the early hours of the morning. The figure disappeared and reappeared, the distance travelled much greater than he should have been able to traverse. One of the witnesses decided to run up to the figure shouting 'Happy New Year!', but he had vanished.

Pedlar

Bygrave - Bygrave House

Three ghosts are said to walk this property. A pedlar who was murdered in the house has found it difficult to leave, and a woman and her child who were buried under the drawing room floor also haunt the site.

Woman with Long Hair

Cheshunt - Former Meux House (private house, no longer standing)

Date / Time: Eighteenth century

This pretty girl dressed in silk was seen many times looking out a window, waiting for someone who never came. An older lady was also seen on site, supposedly quite scary in appearance. She vanished when the house was knocked down and rebuilt.
